THE ACCOMMODATION
Bird’s Nest Studio has a charming history. Formerly the 30 year home of 94 year old neighbour, footie fanatic and adopted nana Joan, a permanent caravan and annex have been transformed into the ultimate nanavan… a stylish two bedroom absolute waterfront studio retreat with it’s own kitchen, bathroom, lounge area, outdoor bbq, a large private covered outdoor studio, small indoor studio and landscaped gardens with fire pit. Bird’s Nest Studio has it’s own dedicated carpark space. Laundry facilities are available on site. A pushbike with basket is available for easy rides to local services and attractions at Fingal Head, Kingscliff and Chinderah.
Bird’s Nest Studio is booked for exclusive use of the accommodation and studio spaces.
THE OUTDOOR STUDIO
A large covered and protected outdoor north facing open studio deck features panoramic river and mountain sunset views. The river dolphins swim past regularly and a wide variety of birdlife have made the riverside their home, including a family of eight swans who hand feed from the deck. A large trestle table, full height timber wall and freestanding easels are available to work from. Drop sheets, jam jars and vintage wooden art caddies are provided.
The studio is a haven for visual arts, textiles, literature, ceramics, photography and new media artists.
Short and long term residencies are welcome.
the indoor studio
A well lit smaller indoor studio space is also provided. A 27 inch monitor and Epson XP-2205 colour printer are available for digital work. A 2-mtr high green/red shelved drying rack is available for smaller piece work (see accommodation above).
THE NEIGHBOURS
The abundant wildlife, including black swans, pacific black ducks, pelicans, bush stone curlews, plovers, galahs, crested pigeons, oystercatchers, water dragons and the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins, are a very special part of staying at Bird’s Nest Studio.
